Yards Brewing has been synonymous with Philadelphia since 1994, when Tom Kehoe and Jon Bovit started turning out kegs from a garage in Manayunk, resurrecting the city's brewing culture after a decades-long drought. Now the largest brewery in Philly, they launched the original Philthy Hazy IPA during the pandemic in 2020 with a mascot designed to channel the city's famously unfiltered attitude. Philthy Zero is the non-alcoholic sibling.

Philthy Zero is contract-packaged by Two Roads in Stratford, Connecticut, which puts it in the same zip code as Athletic Brewing. That's increasingly how the NA game works, the dealcoholization equipment isn't cheap. Brewed with Citra, Azacca, and Mosaic hops, coming in at 70 calories and under 0.5% ABV, the specs are lean but the flavor punches well above what those numbers suggest.

It pours a hazy gold with a real hop nose, and it's citrusy in all the right ways. The body is full, drinks like a real boozy hazy and carries the hops well. The finish is clean with barely any of that NA aftertaste. This is easily one of the better non-alcoholic hazy IPAs I've come across, and being so close to home I'll be reaching for this one often.
