Partake is a Calgary-based non-alcoholic brewery founded in 2017 by Ted Fleming, who started looking for good NA beer after a Crohn's diagnosis pushed him to give up alcohol. He launched the brand on Kickstarter with a $10,000 goal and ended up raising three times that, and Partake has grown into one of the bigger names in Canadian NA since.

Blonde comes in at just 0.3% ABV and 15 calories per 12oz can, with 2 grams of carbs, which is about as light as it gets in the category. Partake uses arrested fermentation rather than traditional dealcoholization, stopping the yeast with cold temperatures before it can convert all the available sugars to alcohol.

There's a skunky nose on this one that hit me right away and stuck around through the whole can. The body is thin, the carbonation is heavy, and there isn't enough flavor in the middle to win me back over. Plenty of folks rate it higher than I would, so you may feel differently, but it's not the one I'd reach for again.
