Maui Brewing Co., Hawaii's largest craft brewery, has brought its NA offering to package for the first time. Maui Light NA, a 35-calorie lager with a hint of lime, has been pouring on draft in Maui's taprooms since 2022, but getting it into cans required partnering with Deschutes Brewery in Bend, Oregon, which has the specialized de-alcoholization equipment most regional breweries don't own.
CEO and co-founder Garrett Marrero on who this beer is for:
"We brewed Maui Light NA for the sunrise paddle-outs, the big training days, the motorcyclists, the pilots, and the designated drivers who still want in on the fun."
The Deschutes partnership is the detail worth noting. For regional breweries that want a credible NA presence without spending millions on their own infrastructure, contracting out the production may be the template.
